Mount Olive Intermediate

Achieving Excellence Together

Media Center

Library Media Center

  • The mission of the Mt. Olive Media Center is to help our students develop a life long love of reading, as well as become effective seekers and users of information through collaboration with the entire school community.

  • When in the library, students will adhere to our Library Expectations:

    • Use an appropriate voice level
    • Be responsible and respectful
    • Follow directions
    • Take care of library materials

  • The  library houses approximately 10,000 items for student use. Follett Destiny Library Manager, an automated circulation system, is used district-wide, which enables each RCSD library access to the library collections at all schools in the district. Destiny can be accessed from anywhere, 24/7, helping to strengthen the bond between the library, the classroom, and home. You can access Mount Olive’s Destiny catalogue by clicking on this link..

  • Our library is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Each class visits the library once bi-weekly for a 30-minute lesson and book exchange during these hours. Open Access is available throughout the day, allowing students to use library resources and receive assistance from the media specialist.

  • Students are allowed to have two items checked out. All students can keep the items for one week. Students can renew a book for additional time. Lost or damaged books have a $15 fine.

  • The Alabama Virtual Library provides premier library and information resources to the students, teachers and residents of Alabama free of charge.
