The mission of the Mt. Olive Media Center is to help our students develop a life long love of reading, as well as become effective seekers and users of information through collaboration with the entire school community.

When in the library, students will adhere to our Library Expectations:
- Use an appropriate voice level
- Be responsible and respectful
- Follow directions
- Take care of library materials

The library houses approximately 10,000 items for student use. Follett Destiny Library Manager, an automated circulation system, is used district-wide, which enables each RCSD library access to the library collections at all schools in the district. Destiny can be accessed from anywhere, 24/7, helping to strengthen the bond between the library, the classroom, and home. You can access Mount Olive’s Destiny catalogue by clicking on this link..

Our library is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Each class visits the library once bi-weekly for a 30-minute lesson and book exchange during these hours. Open Access is available throughout the day, allowing students to use library resources and receive assistance from the media specialist.

Students are allowed to have two items checked out. All students can keep the items for one week. Students can renew a book for additional time. Lost or damaged books have a $15 fine.

The Alabama Virtual Library provides premier library and information resources to the students, teachers and residents of Alabama free of charge.
